Sick or Injured?
No problem!!!! Let's take advantage of the situation.
Over the years I've had hundreds of students call out either because of injuries or illness. In the past if you were sick, no! I don't want you coming in and spreading your germs! If you had an injury I'd ask, "but your brain still works, right?" That usually broke the ice and we'd have a conversation on how to proceed. With the invention of the internet and video conferencing, unless you're seriously injured and ill in the hospital we can still connect and make progress in areas you might not have thought about. So if you're up to it, let's take advantage of the situation at hand. See what I did there!

Jim's Story
As it turns out I injured my hand and needed stitches. I was stitched up on two left hand knuckles and took a picture before the doc bandaged me up. He then suggested I take a break from anything and everything that involved excess use of my hand. Especially playing guitar since that will stress the stitches. When I called Vince to cancel he said “your brain still works, right?” I looked at the phone kinda annoyed but knew he was joking around. Then I realized he was serious! I answered, umm yup? Vince came up with a ton of things to do that were hands off and seriously valuable. I never thought I could learn guitar without playing it! We worked on concepts, ear training exercises, memorization skills and notes. I never really wanted to learn how to read music but once I got started it cleared up a lot of my timing issues. It also made me understand how important knowing all the notes on the neck is. I was finally able to name chords! Vince actually made my injury downtime fun and rewarding. I wouldn't have put in the time otherwise and it's stuff I can do while I drive to work!
